A book full of heat, soul, spice, ma la, subtleties in cooking techniques and flavour development. This book awakened in me a passion for Sichuan cuisine and Chinese cooking more broadly. A taste, passion and deep curiosity of a cuisine fist awakened by the “Women’s Weekly Chinese Cookbook” some 30 odd years ago, as a child, mesmerised by the flavours of an unknown and far off-land, especially when compared to early 1980’s outer suburban Victorian and its Chicken and Sweet Corn soup…which is still delicious 😋
